Q&A
Which lash service should I book?
Choose Classic for a natural, effortless enhancement. Choose Styling for a more customized look designed around your eyes and preferences. Choose Volume if you want a fuller, denser result.
Not sure? Start with Styling. Your stylist will help customize the look during your consultation.
What if I don’t know which style suits me?
You don’t need to know before you book. During your consultation, your stylist will consider your eye shape, natural lashes, preferences, and the look you want to achieve to create a design for you.
Have inspiration photos? Bring them. We’ll use them as a starting point and customize the look to suit you.
Which stylist level should I choose?
All Clement Lash stylists follow the same standards for comfort, lash health, and beautiful results. The main differences are experience and appointment time.
Master Stylists bring the most experience and efficiency. Senior Stylists are experienced and established, while Junior Stylists are fully trained and work with additional appointment time.
Choose the level that best fits your preference, schedule, and budget.
I already have lash extensions. What should I book?
If your current lashes were done at another salon, please book a Full Set + Removal. We don’t refill work from other salons, so we can start fresh and ensure the result meets Clement Lash standards.
If your current lashes were done at Clement Lash and you’re within our refill window, book a Refill.
If your lashes were done at Clement Lash but it has been more than four weeks, please book a Full Set + Removal.
Can I change my lash style at a refill?
Yes. We can start transitioning your style at your refill. Depending on how different the new design is from your current set, it may take more than one refill to complete the transition.
If you’d like a completely fresh start with no transition between styles, book a Full Set + Removal instead.
How long do lash extensions last?
Lash extensions shed naturally with your own lashes, so you’ll gradually lose extensions as your natural lashes go through their growth cycle.
Most clients come in for a refill every 2–3 weeks to keep their lashes looking full and balanced. How long your set looks its best can vary depending on your natural lash cycle, lifestyle, aftercare, and retention.
At Clement Lash, we offer refills up to 4 weeks. After four weeks, we recommend starting fresh with a Full Set + Removal.
How often should I get a refill?
Most clients come in every 2–3 weeks, depending on their natural lash cycle, how quickly their lashes grow out, and how full they like their lashes to look.
If you prefer your lashes to stay consistently full, a 2-week refill may be the best fit. If your lashes still look balanced and you’re comfortable with a little more grow-out, 3 weeks often works well.
Clients with a naturally dense lash line and slower natural lash growth may sometimes be able to go up to 4 weeks and still have enough lashes remaining for a refill.
At Clement Lash, 4 weeks is the maximum refill window. If it has been more than four weeks since your last appointment, please book a Full Set + Removal.
Can I wash my lashes with eyelash extensions on?
Yes. We recommend keeping your lashes dry for the first 24 hours after your appointment.
After 24 hours, cleanse your lash line every time you wash your face, ideally twice a day. Your regular facial cleanser is fine as long as it is oil-free and gentle around the eyes.
Do not avoid washing your lashes. Oil, makeup, and debris can build up along the lash line, which may affect retention and eyelid hygiene. Clean lashes are better for both your extensions and your eyes.
Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When applied properly, lash extensions should not damage your natural lashes. But proper application matters just as much as choosing the right length and weight.
Extensions should be applied to the natural lashes, not directly to the skin, and each natural lash should be properly isolated. When two or more natural lashes are stuck together, they can grow at different speeds, causing one lash to pull on another and potentially lead to premature shedding or damage.
The extensions themselves also need to be appropriate for what your natural lashes can safely support. At Clement Lash, we consider length, weight, density, isolation, and placement when creating each set.
Your part matters too. Keeping your lash line clean and following proper aftercare helps support both your natural lash health and your extensions.
Healthy natural lashes always come before creating a heavier or more dramatic look.
Can I wear makeup with eyelash extensions?
Yes, but some eye makeup and lash products should be avoided while wearing eyelash extensions.
You can wear eyeshadow and eyeliner, but avoid mascara on your extensions. You should also never use an eyelash curler, as it can bend, pull, or damage both the extensions and your natural lashes.
Do not apply strip lashes, lash clusters, or DIY lash extensions over your eyelash extensions. The additional adhesive and removal process can interfere with your extensions and may put unnecessary stress on your natural lashes.
When wearing eye makeup, make sure it can be removed gently and thoroughly without rubbing or pulling on your extensions.
Eyeshadow and eyeliner are fine. Skip the mascara, lash curler, and additional false lashes.
How should I remove eye makeup with eyelash extensions?
Use an oil-free eye makeup remover and lint-free applicators to gently remove makeup around your lashes.
Avoid using Q-tips or cotton swabs. The fibers can get caught between the extensions and along the lash line.
You can use Clement Lash’s oil-free remover, or any oil-free micellar water or eye makeup remover you prefer. We also have recommended products available through the QR code at our front desk, including options you can purchase on Amazon.
Remove makeup gently without rubbing or pulling, then cleanse the lash line thoroughly.
Is it healthy to wear eyelash extensions continuously? Do I need to take breaks?
You don’t necessarily need to take breaks from eyelash extensions if they are applied properly and your natural lashes and lash line remain healthy.
A healthy set should use appropriate length and weight, proper isolation, and correct placement without adhesive touching the skin. Regular cleansing and proper aftercare are also important for maintaining a healthy lash line.
At Clement Lash, we place a high value on natural lash health. We need healthy natural lashes as the foundation for beautiful extensions, so protecting them is in both your interest and ours. Our goal is the same as yours: to keep your natural lashes healthy while allowing you to enjoy extensions long term.
We assess your natural lashes at every appointment. If we notice unusual gaps, thinning, or changes in your lash line, we’ll let you know and adjust the plan if needed.
Healthy lashes don’t need a scheduled break just because you wear extensions continuously. What matters is how your natural lashes are doing.
Can I get my eyelash extensions wet?
After the first 24 hours, yes. You can shower, exercise, swim in the pool or ocean, and enjoy your normal activities with eyelash extensions.
Water itself isn’t something you need to avoid long term. However, frequent exposure to steam, high heat, salt water, chlorine, and heavy sweating may affect retention.
After swimming or heavy sweating, gently rinse and cleanse your lashes rather than letting salt, chlorine, sweat, or other buildup sit along the lash line.
For saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga, keep in mind that prolonged heat and humidity may shorten your retention, especially with frequent exposure.
Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours. After that, get them wet, keep them clean, and enjoy your normal routine.
Why are my lash extensions falling out?
Some shedding is completely normal. Your natural lashes continuously go through a growth cycle, and when a natural lash sheds, the extension attached to it sheds with it.
What matters is how your extensions are falling out. If you see an extension attached to a natural lash, that is often normal shedding. If you’re losing many extensions without natural lashes attached, or noticing significant loss in a short period of time, retention may be a factor.
Retention can be affected by many things, including your natural lash cycle, aftercare, oil and buildup along the lash line, lifestyle, and the application itself.
If you notice unusually fast or uneven shedding, reach out to us. We can look at what’s happening and help determine whether it’s normal shedding or a retention issue.
Losing some extensions is normal. Losing a large amount unusually quickly is worth looking into.
Should I be able to feel my eyelash extensions?
No. When eyelash extensions are properly applied, they should feel lightweight and comfortable. Most of the time, you shouldn’t feel them at all.
You shouldn’t experience ongoing itching, poking, pulling, pinching, or tightness along your lash line. Your extensions also shouldn’t feel like they’re tugging when you blink or move your eyes.
Persistent discomfort can be a sign that something needs to be checked, such as poor isolation, extensions pulling on neighboring natural lashes, or placement that is too close to or touching the skin.
If your extensions feel uncomfortable, don’t assume that’s just part of wearing lashes. Let your stylist know so the lash line can be checked.
Good eyelash extensions should look noticeable, not feel noticeable.
How can I tell if my eyelash extensions are glued to my skin?
Properly applied eyelash extensions should be attached to your natural lashes, not your eyelid skin, with about a 1–2 mm safety distance from the skin.
When the attachment is correct, you usually should not be able to see the adhesive.
If adhesive has cured directly on the skin, you may sometimes see a small stud or mushroom-shaped glue bump sitting at the lash line. That visible bump can be a sign that the extension was attached too close to or directly onto the skin.
If you can’t clearly see it, you may be able to feel it. Extensions glued to the skin can feel uncomfortable when you blink, with sensations like poking, catching, tightness, or pulling along the lash line.
Properly applied extensions should feel comfortable, and the adhesive should not be sitting on your skin.
