Wearing eyelash extensions doesn’t mean you have to give up eye makeup. Eyeshadow and eyeliner are fine, but removing them properly is important for both your extensions and your lash line.
The goal is simple: remove makeup thoroughly without rubbing, pulling, or leaving oily residue around your extensions.
What You’ll Need
Before you start, prepare:
Oil-free makeup remover
You can use Clement Lash Oil-Free Remover or another oil-free eye makeup remover or micellar water.
Cotton pads
These are for removing makeup from your eyelids, not for scrubbing between your extensions.
Lint-free applicators
We recommend lint-free doe foot applicators or micro brushes for cleaning close to the lash line.

Step 1: Remove Makeup From Your Eyelids
Soak a cotton pad with your oil-free remover and gently wipe away eyeshadow and eyeliner from the eyelid.
Avoid rubbing aggressively or pulling across your extensions.
The cotton pad is for the eyelid area. When you get close to the lash line and extensions, switch to a lint-free applicator for more precise cleaning.
Step 2: Prepare Your Oil-Free Remover
Pour a small amount of oil-free remover into a clean cup.
This makes it easier to wet your applicators without repeatedly dipping used tools back into the original product.
Step 3: Use a Lint-Free Applicator
Dip a lint-free doe foot applicator or micro brush into the remover.
You may need more than one applicator to thoroughly clean both eyes.
Step 4: Clean Along the Lash Line
Using the soaked applicator, gently clean along the lash line to loosen and remove makeup that remains close to the extensions.
Take your time around eyeliner and areas where makeup tends to collect. The goal is to remove the buildup without pulling or rubbing your extensions.
Do not use Q-tips or cotton swabs between your lashes. Their fibers can catch between the extensions and make thorough cleaning more difficult.
Step 5: Dispose of Used Applicators
Once you’re finished, discard the used cotton pads and applicators rather than reusing them.
Finish by Cleansing Your Lash Line
Removing makeup and washing your lashes are not the same thing.
Once your eye makeup has been removed, cleanse your lash line thoroughly with your regular oil-free facial cleanser or lash cleanser, then rinse.
Oil, makeup, and debris left along the lash line can affect retention and eyelid hygiene.
Don’t avoid washing your extensions because you’re afraid of getting them wet. After the first 24 hours, clean lashes are what we want.
What Should I Avoid?
Avoid oil-based makeup removers, rubbing or pulling on the extensions, and Q-tips or other applicators that leave lint behind.
And remember: removing eye makeup gently does not mean leaving makeup behind. The lash line should be thoroughly clean when you’re finished.
